It’s not just the obvious animals which benefit from water. You’ll find bats and bees arriving when you make a pond, as well as frogs and newts, beetles and birds, dragonflies and darters.
Many of these animals depend on our native flora, one way or the other. British aquatic plants are among the prettiest of our wildflowers, so if you use them your pond will look lovely too. Non-native plants can be invasive, difficult to manage and unhelpful. They can sometimes appear by surprise if you buy pond plants from an unreliable source, in which case you’re doomed to many hours of labour trying to remove them.
You’ll find seed mixes, aquatic and bog plants, and pre-planted coir products in our shop. All of the plants here are sourced in the UK and grown from UK stock, and none of them have been anywhere near any chemicals. We’ve selected species which are non-aggressive and occur naturally across the country.
We can source many more individual species on request, so if there’s something you would like please drop us a line.
Please note that these plug plants are only available on a seasonal basis, not from autumn to early spring.
