Aquatic Native Plants: Water Lilies
We sell two water lily varieties native to the UK as tubers, which we harvest from native populations. They'll root themselves in deeper water - 0.5 - 1.5m - and will spread vigorously, so really best suit bigger ponds or lakes. The most vigorous of all is Nuphar lutea, which will thrive down to 2m. If you want to establish water lilies out of reach, tie a stone around them with biodegrable string and lob them into the water. We don't sell plastic baskets; if you need something to grow them in - i.e. you've got a new butyl lined pond - we recommend using a hessian bag filled with subsoil.
